12 Days of Giving - Day 1

On the first day of giving, my law firm gave to me,
Hope for the Horses.

For our first day of giving, we are thrilled to be supporting the whispering hearts horse rescue, located in Hagersville, Ontario.

WHHR is an advocate for educating the public and providing a service in helping to prevent horses from being subjected to auctions and even worse, slaughter. WHHR goals and objectives are:

  • Create a volunteer-based, equine welfare organization to ensure quality care and treatment of horses through intervention, education, and outreach

  • Create a partnership to provide a reputable facility for the care and rehabilitation of horses under investigation

  • Educate the public on equine welfare issues

  • Establish a program to assist other rescue organizations in Ontario as more facilities are needed to take in the increasing number of abused and neglected horses across the Province.

Since its inception in 2007, owners Brenda and Dave Thompson have received the The Boehringer Ingelheim-Equine Canada Horse Health and Welfare Award for contributing directly to the improvement of horse health and welfare; and the Caring Haldimand Award for supporting health, social, and community services.

Whispering Hearts Horse Rescue relies heavily on dedicated volunteers to keep the farm running and cannot continue this labor of love without your help and support. Help can be provided by:

  • making a financial donation

  • sponsoring a horse

  • donating feed, blankets, tack, supplements, wormer, supplies

  • volunteering

Where The Whispers Of Horses In Need Are Heard

This charity was chosen by our Law Clerk, Denise Crockford. Denise has a soft spot when it comes to all things horses, and specifically chose WHHR because of Big Red! She heard a story about Big Red being rescued due to oversize hooves and needed to go see him for herself at one of their open house events. On arrival at Whispering Hearts Horse Rescue, Denise saw first hand the dedicated volunteers, their care for Big Red, and how he gradually came back to life. Denise has experienced a rescue come in as a scared timid animal to within a week standing, letting visitors stroke them. “It makes you feel really good to drive up the lane way and see their heads turn to see whose coming to visit them on any given day.” Thank you Denise!
