CODICIL

A codicil is an addition or amendment to a Will that explains or modifies the original document without a complete re-write. It can be used when a there is a need for only a small alteration.

While it is a convenient alternative to producing an entire new Will, constructing too many codicils can be confusing.  Therefore, it is important to consult a lawyer regarding any changes you may need or are hoping to make and discuss how they will fit into your overall estate plan.
